Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai West Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station provide convenient transportation for tourists. Everyday 70 or so pairs of trains run between other cities all over the country.
Shanghai Railway Station(303 Moling Road, Zhabei District, Shanghai, China. PHONE: 021/6317-9090):
Of these, Shanghai Railway Station serves as the main passenger station. It is Shanghai's largest and oldest railway station, located in Zhabei district, on the intersection of Metro Lines 1, 3 and 4. Practically all trains used to terminate here, but southern services are being shifted out to the new South Station.
Shanghai South Railway Station(289 Old Humin Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai):
Shanghai South Railway Station is a new, greatly expanded terminal opened in July 2006 and is set to take over all services towards the south, including trains to Hong Kong. On Metro lines 1 and 3.Round trips between Shanghai South Railway Station and Hangzhou, Jiashan, Jinshan, etc involving 11 pairs of trains are made daily. You may take the train at No. 289, Old Humin Road, Shanghai.
Shanghai West Railway Station:
Shanghai West Railway Station is the smallest of the three. It owns several pairs of trains serving routes between Shanghai and Yantai, Zaozhuang, Hengyang, Ganzhou, Chengdu. Not reachable by metro.
A special 'Holiday Train' from Shanghai is bound for Mt. Sanqingshan and Mt. Longhushan of Jiangxi Province, Mt. Wuyishan of Fujian Province, Mt. Yandangshan of Zhejiang Province and Mt. Huangshan of Anhui Province every Friday and returns on the following Monday morning. If you intend to travel on weekends, please go to the railway station, or any other branches of Shanghai Railway Administration for reservation.

Train tickets are also most conveniently booked in advance at one of the many travel service agencies. If urgent, they could also be directly booked at the train stations and the Shanghai Railway Station even has an English counter.
